Comparison

Evidence infrastructure vs. governance software. They are not the same thing.

Most AI governance platforms help you manage risk with dashboards, frameworks, and questionnaires. When a regulator asks for the evidence, the actual record of what the AI decided, when, under what policy, with what outcome, governance software points at a dashboard. KairoNull hands them a cryptographic chain.

The core distinction

Governance software manages intent.

Frameworks, risk registers, policy documents, approval workflows. Essential for operating responsibly. Not sufficient when an auditor or regulator asks: "Show me the actual evidence that your AI operated as documented."

KairoNull produces evidence.

A SHA-256 hash-chained ledger of every AI decision, model identity, governing policy, input context, output, timestamp, captured at the moment of the decision. Not reconstructed. Not summarised. Cryptographically bound. Independently verifiable.

Feature comparison

Capability Typical AI Governance Dashboards KairoNull UTP
Decision-level evidence capture ~ Typically aggregate risk scores; decision-level detail varies by platform Every decision captured at point of generation
Cryptographic tamper-evidence ~ Rarely cryptographically sealed by default SHA-256 hash chain: modification breaks all subsequent records
Independent verification ~ Usually requires platform access to verify Public tool: verify any record with just its hash, no account required
Article 12 logging compliance ~ Primarily policy documentation; decision-level automatic logging is not the core focus Built for Article 12: automatic logging is the core product
No model modification required ~ Integration depth varies by platform Deploys via API alongside existing systems in ~30 minutes
Risk management frameworks Core capability Complements, use governance software for frameworks, KairoNull for the evidence the frameworks require
Policy questionnaires & registers Core capability Out of scope

How they work together

KairoNull is not a replacement for governance software. It is the missing layer underneath it. Use your governance platform to document policies, track risk, manage approvals. Use KairoNull to produce the contemporaneous evidence record that proves those policies were actually followed, in every decision, verifiably.

When an auditor asks your governance platform "did the AI follow the policy?", it shows a policy document. When they ask KairoNull, it produces a cryptographically timestamped record of every decision that did or did not comply, at the moment it was made.

Already have a governance platform?

KairoNull integrates alongside it. We complement your existing governance platform, adding the evidence layer most dashboards don't provide.
